Dining in an enchanted castle

As I told in my get ready blog I had some reservations for a few amazing restaurants during my July trip to WDW. One of these reservations was finally a dream coming true. Now who doesn’t want to dine inside of an enchanted castle where the host comes to check upon his guests every now and then to make sure everyone is enjoying his diner? Do you already know which restaurant and enchanted castle I am talking about?

The outside of the restaurant

It all started with a tale as old as time…..no just kidding it started with planning ahead to book this before the trip through the MyDisney Experience app. We were lucky to get a reservation for ‘Be Our Guest‘ on our final day of our trip. So keep that in mind the most of the times you really need to reserve up ahead to be able to dine here. But also sometimes you can get it just a few days before, but if you really want to dine here just to make sure book far enough ahead.

Ok, so if you don’t know what I am talking about yet let me tell you what Be Our Guest is. I do think we have all seen the Disney classic animation, Beauty and the Beast. Well, imagine this…you walk up ahead the mountain towards the Beast’s Castle and get to enter the castle. Yes, enter it not just admire it from the outside like the teenie tiny castle you can see for example on the attraction in Disneyland Paris, ‘Le Pays des Contes de Fées‘. Now I have to be honest it is not completely the exact copy of the castle in the animation but it looks like it for a big part and you certainly do get the feel. Above the doors of the entrance there is a beautiful piece of stained glass of the rose and in the hallway the beautiful piece of Belle and Prince Adam in stained glass. Now when you enter you first have to wait in the waiting area until your table is ready. We were pretty lucky that the moment we all sat down we were already called. Maybe it was because we were there at the exact time of reservation or just lucky, since we were with a group of 9 people. Now there are 3 different rooms to dine at in the restaurant. You can dine in the Rose Gallery, here it is mostly themed with paintings of Belle and the Beast and in the center a big turned statue of the couple. The second room you can dine in is non other than the West Wing. This one is a pretty dark room to dine in but is just like the West Wing in the animation. There is a painting of Prince Adam that when lightning strikes it changes into the Beast, and of course you will see the enchanted rose in the room. The third and biggest room to dine is of course the Ballroom.

The Ballroom

Before hand on the day we went to a castmember outside of the restaurant to ask if it was possible to put on the reservation that we would like to dine in the ballroom. The castmember told us she would tell Mrs. Potts this to see if we could dine there. It’s such a cute and nice touch of magic to the whole experience to hear them mention that Mrs. Potts runs the whole place and foresees that everything is in order. After we checked in and waited in the waiting area for only a second it was time to go to our table, which was luckily enough in the ballroom like we wanted. When walking from the waiting area to the dining area’s you pass six of the armored guards just like in the animation. The ballroom is the first room you get in and my god it is so stunning and just magical to see. In the back of the ballroom you’ll see the windows where it will always be nighttime and during our stay it was snowing to make it a little bit extra magical.

When dining here you’ll be having a 3 course diner. You can check the menu on the MyDisney Experience app to see what you can eat here. A 3 course meal with a drink included costs $65 excluding tax. The drink is just a normal fountain beverage of choice, they also offer alcoholic drinks and they have their own special house wines but of course it is not included in the price. After we were seated at our table we were asked what we wanted to drink and our waitress gave us the menu. You give directly all three courses of your choice so everything arrives at your table smoothly one after another when the whole table is finished with each meal.

My three course meal

Since this is a little bit of a French style restaurant and I heard and seen many good things of the French Onion soup I chose that for my starters. I was doubting between the onion soup and the Maine lobster bisque, but since I knew how good the onion soup looked and read so many reviews about how good it tasted, I really wanted to try it. For my entrée I went with the Poulet Rouge Chicken. I was first thinking about the Sustainable Market Fresh Fish, but when I heard there were some ingredients in it that I didn’t like and already had a lot of fish during my trip I went with the chicken. Others at my table went for the Center-cut Filet Mignon, which was a recommendation, but I myself don’t eat filet mignon and it also had mushrooms so that was a nope for me. If you are vegetarian they do have vegetarian options, but I do have to be honest that at Disney that will always be the same kind of options. For starters a salad and for entrée something with only vegetables. But the vegetarian at our table did enjoy here meal here and said it tasted good. So if you are a vegetarian you can dine here and enjoy the whole experience. For dessert everyone gets the same and you won’t have to choose what to get. Everyone gets a Dessert Trio that includes of course the specialty of Beast Castle, non other than the Grey Stuff. As the name already says it, you get three different kind of desserts. Of course all in mini size and not big to make it one dessert. The trio includes a Lemon Jam Macaron, a Dark Chocolate Truffle and a Chocolate Tart that contains the Grey Stuff with an adorable small chocolate Chip wafer on it.

The West Wing

During your diner there will be an appearance of non other than our host of the castle. The Beast makes an appearance to check on his guests if everyone is having a good diner and great time. Due to covid and also the big areas with little to no walking space the Beast just walks around all the rooms to greet everyone from a far but that everyone can get a glimpse of him. After finishing diner you are allowed to walk around and to see the other 2 rooms. I have to be honest I was glad to be eating in the ballroom. The Rose Gallery is very good and well themed but it didn’t give a real feel of being inside the castle. And the West Wing does really look cool, but it is pretty dark inside there. Also after diner like at most of the special dining restaurants in Walt Disney World you get a little something to commemorate your diner. Everyone gets a nice card from the restaurant that is signed by non other than the Beast himself.

I had a great time dining here and really took in all the magic around me. The food really tasted amazing and I felt really full after it. The portions did look not that big, but boy did they fill me up good.

So tell me, would you pay $65 excluding tax to dine at an enchanted castle for a three course meal? Or would you rather just go for a bite somewhere else in the parks?
